VTV.vn - The number of vehicles on the route is increasing, especially the pressure of inner-city congestion is gradually pushing up about 8km at the entrance to the Hanoi - Hai Phong expressway.
Large vehicle traffic makes the entrance to the Hanoi - Hai Phong expressway become a congestion hot spot.
Recently, vehicles traveling at the beginning of the Hanoi - Hai Phong expressway often encounter the situation of having to go slowly, even traveling below the prescribed minimum speed. The reason is partly due to the increased number of vehicles on the route, especially the pressure of inner-city congestion that is gradually pushing up about 8km at the entrance to the eastern gateway expressway of the city.
According to the Hanoi - Hai Phong expressway operator, every weekend, the number of vehicles circulating on the route is around 55,000 turns/day. However, at the gateway connecting to the inner city, about 30% more of this number are vehicles traveling short distances, entering and exiting residential areas at the beginning of the expressway. High traffic makes the expressway entrance a congestion hot spot.
Lieutenant Colonel Pham Van Thai (Highway Traffic Police Team No. 2, Traffic Police Department said: "Vehicles participate on the eastbound route on weekends, especially at Ring Road 3 intersection and Co Linh intersection. Based on reality, we regularly patrol, dynamically control the route and arrange officers to divide lanes."

Hanoi - Hai Phong Expressway has a vehicle growth rate of about 15%/year. Currently, during peak hours, the number of vehicles circulating is about 70,000, close to the design traffic of 90,000, but divided evenly throughout the day. Not to mention, provinces and cities along the highway have opened more entrances and exits to serve the activities of industrial parks, so the pressure is expected to increase even more.
"The number of heavy trucks will continue to increase compared to before when only cars and passenger cars accounted for the majority on the route. We will continue to pay attention to route maintenance and upgrading the traffic dispatch system to ensure smooth traffic and highest safety," said Mr. Le Xuan Tu (Deputy Director of Hanoi - Hai Phong Expressway Management and Operation Company).
Hanoi - Hai Phong Expressway is considered a route that maintains road surface quality and ensures stable and continuous traffic since it was put into operation over the past 10 years. However, recently, traffic pressure pushing from the city gateway to the highway is causing problems, either vehicles must be divided from the collector road system, or soon consider expanding to relieve the dense traffic volume.SourceVtv.vn
