Accelerate the construction of the Hanoi-Hai Phong automobile expressway

10/06/2013

After resolving two major problems, the construction progress of the Hanoi-Hai Phong Expressway Project has been accelerated. By May 30, the construction volume of the entire route had reached about 40.2%, while the project's site clearance work had also been completed 98.97%.

Mr. Pham Viet Son, Deputy Director of the Hanoi-Hai Phong Expressway Project Management Board under the Vietnam Infrastructure Development and Financial Investment Corporation (VIDIFI) - the project investor, said that two major problems of the project have been resolved including: technical handling of weak soil and site clearance.

The Hanoi-Hai Phong expressway project is divided into 10 packages. Currently, contractors have committed to accelerating construction progress this year to achieve the set plan. Previously, the EX 5 package was considered to be the slowest progress on the Hanoi-Hai Phong expressway, but up to now, there have been outstanding improvements with the workload reaching 40.67%. Package EX 4 constructed by contractor Keangnam (Korea) currently also has a volume of 38%.

However, Mr. Pham Viet Son also said that currently, the project's workload is still large. Therefore, the Project Management Board regularly monitors progress and requires contractors to accelerate construction further. In addition, there are still some problems and disagreements between the government, people and investors during the construction process in some bidding packages that need to be resolved soon to ensure the progress of the project.

The Hanoi-Hai Phong expressway project has a total length of nearly 106km passing through 4 provinces and cities including Hanoi, Hung Yen, Hai Duong and Hai Phong. As expected, the project will be completed and open to traffic through Hai Phong at the end of 2014 and the entire route will open to traffic at the end of 2015./.
