On May 19, 25 km of the Hanoi-Hai Phong expressway opened to traffic
The Hanoi - Hai Phong expressway project up to now has no financial and site problems. Vidifi strives to open the 25 km section from Thanh An bridge (bordering Hai Duong) - Highway 10 intersection - Road 353 intersection (belonging to Hai Phong city) on May 19.
The progress of construction packages of the Hanoi - Hai Phong expressway is currently at over 85%. Packages EX5 and EX6 go through Hai Duong province to be constructed on soft ground. After a period of loading and waiting for settlement, these packages are now eligible for unloading to construct the next layers.
Regarding the specific construction volume of the bidding packages up to this point, the current construction volume of package EX 1 A is 83.88%, the construction volume of package EX1B is 51.08%, the construction volume of package EX2, EX3, EX4, EX7 is nearly 87%. The volume of EX5 and EX 5 bidding packages reached nearly 92.76%. Contract package EX8's construction volume reached 99.40%, EX10's construction volume reached 82.46%. Particularly, the EX9 package constructed by Shandong Province Road and Bridge Group Co., Ltd. - China has completed 100% of the construction volume.
Currently, on the construction site, taking advantage of favorable weather, tasks such as asphalt concrete mats of all layers, pouring concrete median strips, guardrail fences... are being implemented vigorously. At the same time, the bidding package for landscape-green trees, central operator house, toll house, collector road... has also been prepared and is being urgently constructed to keep up with the schedule of inaugurating the entire project at the end of 2015.

According to assessments, the road network connecting the capital Hanoi with the port city of Hai Phong only has National Highway 5, although it has been upgraded to 4-6 lanes, according to grade I (plain) road standards. However, with the rapid increase of industrial parks and residential clusters along both sides of National Highway 5, the route is overloaded and cannot meet the freight transport requirements of the Northern Key Economic Region to Hai Phong port. Therefore, putting into operation the first 25 km of the Hanoi-Hai Phong expressway will have great significance in relieving current congestion on National Highway 5.
The Hanoi - Hai Phong expressway project is the first large-scale national key road project implementing the BOT (Build - Operate - Transfer) model with a length of 105.5 km according to international expressway standards. The project was started on May 19, 2008 with a total investment of up to 46,900 billion VND. The entire route has an average cross-section width of 100m, road surface width from 32.5 to 35m with six lanes running at a design speed of up to 120 km/h, two emergency stopping lanes.
The project passes through the provinces and cities of Hanoi (6km), Hung Yen (26.5km), Hai Duong (40km), Hai Phong (33km). The starting point of the project is located on Ring Road 3 of Hanoi and the ending point of the project is Dinh Vu dam (in Hai An district, Hai Phong city).
