To recover the investment capital for the Hanoi-Hai Phong Expressway, VIDIFI was assigned to manage, maintain, and collect tolls on National Highway 5.
National Highway 5 is 102 km long, starting from Hanoi, running through Hung Yen and Hai Duong provinces, and ending in Hai Phong city. It was built according to the standards of a Class II road in a flat area, consisting of 4 lanes for motorized vehicles and 2 lanes for bicycles and motorbikes.
Along National Highway 5, numerous factories and industrial zones are concentrated, resulting in a very high volume of motorized vehicles, including a large number of container trucks and trailers constantly traveling from Hai Phong port to the industrial zones and vice versa. To ensure safe and efficient operation and toll collection on National Highway 5, VIDIFI regularly maintains and repairs the road surface, bridges, and other traffic safety features along the route.
Applying artificial intelligence (AI) technology to regulate and manage traffic flow along the entire National Highway 5 has yielded outstanding results in traffic management and marks a significant step forward in the application of modern technology to Vietnam's transportation infrastructure.
Since 2020, both toll stations No. 1 and No. 2 on National Highway 5 have implemented advanced ETC technology with RFID e-Tag and an automatic scanning system, allowing vehicles to pass through without stopping at speeds below 40km/h, reducing traffic congestion by up to 70%. This demonstrates VIDIFI's commitment to upgrading Vietnam's transportation infrastructure, providing safe, fast, and sustainable journeys for millions of vehicles daily.
Station No. 1 is located at Km18+150 (Nhu Quynh, Hung Yen).
Station No. 2 at Km92+460 (Hong Bang, Hai Phong).
